OBEDIENCE CLASS INFORMATION
Class begins Tues Feb 4th, 2020. Class sizes are limited. Acceptance into the class is based on receipt of emailed registration form. Once class is filled a waiting list will be started for future sessions.
TIKO reserves the right to add, cancel or combine classes based on number of participants. There are maximum and minimum numbers allowed in each class.
General class schedule (subject to change depending on class enrollment)
6:00 - 7:00 pm - Registration and orientation for all levels. Please do NOT bring your dogs to this mandatory session. Proof of age appropriate vaccinations are required at registration.
Week Two - seven inclusive
5:00 pm - 5:45 pm - (Class is full) Puppy (under 5 months of age)
6:00 pm - 6:45 pm - (Class is full) Basic Obedience Class
7:00 - 7:45 pm - Beyond the Basics (limited spots available)
8:00 - 8:45 pm - Basic Obedience
No refunds will be given after the first night of class.
Cost is 120.00 for seven weeks (includes the mandatory registration/orientation session). Payable by cheque or cash on first night of class.
Puppy Class- Get you and your new companion off to a great start and develop a bond that will last a lifetime. Basic Foundation for communication, tips on house training, quality socializing, good manners and much more for pups less than 5 months. Must have all vaccinations and bring your vet record of vaccinations.
Basic Obedience -Taking your training and time with your dog to the next level with a solid foundation in practical learning skills, engagement games, knowing the boundaries, loose leash walking, recalls, and of course basic commands.
Beyond Basics – Set up for those who have completed Basic training to a satisfactory skill level and want to challenge themselves and their dog with some good companion obedience under distraction, focused heeling, proper positions and proofing of obedience skills.
Beyond Basics II – An opportunity to prepare yourself and your dog for trial situations. Whether Rally Obedience or Regular Obedience we can work on these skills in a setting that can help to prepare both of you for that skill set. Participants must have completed a Beyond Basics Class to a satisfactory skill level with good focus and non reactive dog to other dogs and people. This class will have off leash portions and is for those who have trained to that level with the dog they are bringing to class.

CONFORMATION HANDLING CLASS INFORMATION
Instructor: Rhoda Straby-Ace
Cost : $100.00 Members*
Fees are payable by cheque or cash the first week of class. The class consists of 4 weeks instruction and 3 weeks of available mat time for practice skills.

Conformation (Show Handling) Classes are offered by TIKO for both Novice and Seasoned handlers alike. This class is for those handlers who wish to prepare themselves and their dogs for entry into CKC Conformation Shows. Show ring etiquette and handling, proper stacking and gaiting of dogs are taught. This class is an excellent opportunity to work your dog in a show like environment, to introduce your young dogs to mats and show ring handling, and to get feed back on your and your dog's performance. This is crucial for the young future stars and beneficial for the seasoned show dogs as well.
Classes with Rhoda will be broken down to two classes as follows: (please note that class size will be capped at 8 dogs maximum. Pre-registration is required.
a) Novice (6pm) - for handlers with limited show ring experience. This is a chance to learn the basics of show ring etiquette and show handling procedures for you and your dog. Patterns, stacking, general presentation will all be covered.
b) Advanced (7pm) - is for the more experienced handlers to hone their handling skills and get constructive feedback to help improve their and their dog's show ring performance.
On the weeks between sessions with Rhoda, participants are encouraged to take advantage of the available open mat time to practice their skills and work their dogs in a show like environment.
